This figure recreates the bust of the "Veiled Vestal", made by the Italian sculptor Raffaelo Monti in England in 1845, which is in the castle of Racconigi and of which there is another version by the same author in the castle of Chatsworth.

In Ancient Rome the vestals were priestesses dedicated to the cult of Vesta, goddess of the fire of the home and of the State, they had to be always virgins and they guarded the fire of the temple of Vesta in Rome so that it was always lit.
